Mark 2 VW Jetta’s are a rare sight; with just 2 currently on the road from 1987 and only a further 15 on SORN. This example has been in single family ownership from new, with just one former keeper; a father and then his son, the current owner.

The vendor reports:

‘Taken off the road in July 2011 for no real reason - certainly not because of any major fault - it has stood in an open but dry field shelter ever since. In fact, I think this south facing shelter has been much more favourable than a closed garage and I have been pleasantly surprised as to how solid the underneath still is, a point illustrated by my being able to use the original jack under the sill jacking points without problem. As can be seen, a new wing was fitted shortly before laying the car up. Unfortunately, I did not paint it. Mechanically the car was always serviced regularly and I cannot remember it ever needing major work. Mice, though, have used sound proofing material and so on for nest building, although they have all now been evicted.’

With prices and desirability steadily rising coupled with the rarity of a low owner car we think this is well worth recommissioning.
